Xin Kong Xia Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition 2024

Our students took part in the 2024 “Xin Kong Xia” Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition, which was jointly organized by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning, TCR Music Station, Lianhe Zaobao, and Jurong Pioneer Junior College. The Grand Finals took place on 27 July 2024 at Our Tampines Hub.

This competition aims to preserve Chinese cultural heritage, spark interest in Xinyao and Chinese language learning among Singapore’s youth, and offer a platform for students to appreciate and express Chinese culture creatively. It features participants from various primary and secondary schools, as well as tertiary institutions.

At RGS, the competition is a significant opportunity for students to showcase their songwriting talents. Our school has a strong tradition of cultural and linguistic excellence, and this event aligns perfectly with our commitment to holistic education.

We are proud to announce that our students earned Merit Awards in three categories:

  • Group Category :《温馨四方》 Guo Zi Yu Katelyn (S203), Pan Yu Hui (S201), Li Shantian (S211), and Ng Xiuyi, Zoey (S211).

  • Open Category: Tan Xuan En (S311) with her song 《风吹过的歌》in collaboration with another student from Hwa Chong Institution.

  • Individual Category : Tan Xuan En (S311) with her song《刺猬的距离》.
